Rev. Al Sharpton has a PR crisis on his hands.
During the early hours of Saturday morning, his youngest daughter was arrested after her birthday celebrations ended in an altercation with a taxi driver.
According to the New York Daily News, Ashley Sharpton faces charges, including petty larceny, for snatching a cab driver’s keys during a dispute over their destination and then shoving him.
Ashley Sharpton, the daughter of the MSNBC personality and long-time activist who describes herself as a community organizer, hopped into the cab near midtown New York with several friends around 1 a.m. After the driver became annoyed about their disagreements about where to go, she took his keys and threw them, acccording to the report, leading to the confrontation.
Her father told the Daily News that “she told me it didn’t happen the way they said it happened.”
Ashley Sharpton was also arrested earlier this year for protesting outside Trump Tower in New York over the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Those charges were dropped, however, on the condition that she and others involved avoid further trouble.
