Former First Lady elaichelle Obama’s chief usher has been fired by the new administration.
And in his place, First Lady Melania Trump hired the best and brightest — the director of rooms at the Trump Organization’s Washington hotel, Timothy Harleth.
Once he’s in his new position, starting July 3rd, he will be overseeing more than 90 White House staff members.
“I am so pleased that Timothy will be joining our team,” the first lady said in a press release, adding that “He was selected because of his impressive work history and management skills. My husband and I know he will be successful in this vital role within the White House.”
The new usher’s appointment came just shortly after an announcement had been made that a major fundraiser will be hosted at the Trump International Hotel, where Harleth used to work.
“I am so honored at the opportunity to serve the First Family in their new home,” said Harleth about his promotion, adding, “I look forward to applying my experience with hospitality, leadership, and political protocol in order to ensure the First Family’s needs are met, while also protecting and preserving the rich history of the White House.”
Harleth has more than a decade of leadership and hospitality experience, and the new usher will be overseeing butlers, maids, florists, doormen, cooks and others.
His current job at the Trump International Hotel in DC revolves around overseeing more than 110 employees, but before he worked at the Trump Hotel, he served in managing positions at the Mandarin Oriental in both DC and New York.
