The LGBT community is not happy with President Donald Trump at the moment.
Five U.S. military soldiers — all of whom are transgender — are suing the commander-in-chief for his plan to ban those with gender dysphoria.
Fox News reports:
The suit, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and LGBTQ Advocates & Defenders, charges the president’s tweets announcing the ban violates the Equal Protection component of the Due Process clauses of the Fifth Amendment.
“The categorical exclusion of transgender people from military service lacks a rational basis, is arbitrary, and cannot be justified by sufficient federal interests,” the complaint argues.
The plaintiffs are listed only as Jane Doe 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
In making his announcement on Twitter, President Trump declared that he had consulted with “generals and military experts.”
