Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor is in serious trouble.
He’s lost his last line of support — the city Mayor and the Minneapolis police chief are not backing him.
In fact, Mayor Betsy Hodges was so shocked at the story, she wrote out a blog post that was critical of Noor, pointing out his failure to turn on the bodycams.
From Daily Mail:
“The fatal shooting of Justine Damond should not have happened,” Mayor Hodges penned.
“The fact that we don’t have body camera footage of the shooting could be the result of one or more of the following: a gap in our body cams policy, a gap in training, a violation of our policy, or some combination of these things.
“I am confident I speak for everyone when I say it’s unacceptable that we don’t have this tool available to us in this case,’ she said.
The Mayor had praised Noor in the past when he was hired as the first Somali refugee on the force during the force’s effort to include more minorities.
In an extremely unusual move, even the police chief, Janee Harteau, threw Noor under the bus at a press conference.
“The actions in question go against who we are in the department, how we train and the expectations we have for our officers.
“These were the actions and judgment of one individual,” she said.
Even the police union has been silent.
In addition to all this, Noor is keeping his mouth shut, as he’s refused to cooperate with investigators.
