BREAKING: Michael Flynn’s Replacement Announced

On Monday, President Trump announced that Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster will serve as his new national security adviser.

McMaster replaces Mike Flynn, who resigned a week ago after news broke that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about his communications with Russian ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak before the inauguration.

Here are some quick facts about him:

The 54-year-old McMcaster, who earned the nickname “The Iconoclast General,” is a career Army officer who is still serving. He served in the Persian Gulf War and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Today, McMaster is the director of the Army Capabilities Integration Center and Deputy Commanding General, Futures at U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.

McMaster has been married to Kathleen Trotter since 1985.

They have three daughters, Katharine, Colleen and Caragh.
