On Friday, Japan delivered a big surprise to the United States military stationed in Guam.
The Japanese ground forces and naval fleet, under their defense minister, have officially promised to stand 100% behind President Donald Trump, Defense Secretary Mattis, and all foreign-based troops if North Korea decides to strike first with missiles.
They are ready to fire up their Aegis destroyer missile defense system to keep foreign and American citizens and servicemembers safe.
A spokesperson for Korean People’s Army issued a warning, saying “The KPA Strategic Force is now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 in order to contain the U.S. major military bases on Guam including the Anderson Air Force Base.”
Japan informed the world than any threat against Guam will be understood as an attack against Japan and quoted Japan’s mutual defense agreement with America.
A big part of the missiles tests North Korea has done are in the Sea of Japan and that is just too close for comfort, as they say.
Guam is situated at 1,600 miles south of Japan and Japan choosing to put the island under their missile defense protection is welcoming.
Japan earlier stated that they will activate the defense system only if the missiles are intended for Japan, but now they are changing their policy by stating they will defend U.S. or other allies territories if an attack happens.
