Last week, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read a nine-year-old boy’s adorable letter he wrote to President Donald Trump.
However, HBO’s late-night host Bill Maher thought it wasn’t all that great — and attacked the young conservative.
Free Beacon reports:
In Maher’s first show since the letter became public, he used the opportunity to criticize Dylan “Pickle” Harbin’s spelling and grammar, Fox News reported.
“This is more of an indictment of the educational system of America,” Maher said. “I don’t blame the kid. They haven’t taught him ‘is’ at the age of nine?”
Maher then joked that the attention went to Harbin’s head and he has—for the purposes of the joke—started “writing every week.” He continued by reading a fake letter as though it was written from Harbin to Trump.
“Do you like your boss Mr. Putin?” Maher said. “When I drink too much milk I get in troubl (sic) for pootin (sic) too.”
In the fake letter, Maher also referenced piñatas when he asked Trump, “When you beat up on real Mexicans does candy come out?”
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders first read the letter from Harbin to Trump during a press conference on July 26.
“My name is Dylan Harbin, but everybody calls me pickle,” Harbin wrote. “I’m nine years old and you’re my favorite president. I like you so much that I had a birthday about you. My cake was the shape of your hat.”
“‘I don’t know why people don’t like you,” Harbin added. “You seem nice. Can we be friends?”
Maher was criticized on social media following the routine for mocking Harbin. It is not the first time the comedian received backlash as of late for his show’s content — in June, he publicly apologized after using a racial slur.
