Liberal policies of taking guns away from law-abiding citizens does not aide their cry of everything being “all about the children.”
But for a Donald Trump administration, expect guns to return to schools and teachers to defend America’s next generation.
While being questioned during confirmation hearings, Donald Trump’s Education Secretary nominee Betsy DeVos said the danger poised by “potential grizzlies” justifies keeping guns in schools.
She said this after Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) asked her to explain her position on guns and schools.
According to NBC News, DeVos responded by saying firearm policy ought to be decided by states and localities, rather than the federal government.
She was then pressed to give a more specific answer and she “[referenced] an earlier remark by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) who mentioned an elementary school in Wapiti, Wyoming, that had erected a fence to protect children from wildlife.” DeVos added, “I think probably there, I would imagine that there’s probably a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies.”
Senator Murphy then asked, “If President Trump moves forward with his plan to ban gun-free school zones, will you support that proposal?”
DeVos replied, “I will support what the president-elect does.”
