Hillary Clinton’s corruption and Bernie Sanders’ leftist populism will push one elector away from Clinton.
The Boston Globe reports:
It appears that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is going to get at least one of Maine’s four electoral votes.
Democratic elector David Bright originally said he’d vote for Sanders only under the unlikely scenario in which Republican President-elect Donald Trump failed to get the necessary 270 votes.
But he said Monday he intends to vote for Sanders anyway to acknowledge the efforts of the young supporters of Sanders, who beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in Maine’s presidential caucuses.
If he follows through, then Clinton would garner only two electoral votes in the state of Maine, while Trump and Sanders both gain one.
It’s worth noting that Bernie Sanders is popular in the New England area, as he’s been a long-time senator in the neighboring state of Vermont.
